to say we’ve known austin for a long time wouldn’t be an exaggeration; he and our oldest boys were vacation Bible school buddies during our first years of home schooling. although the miles separated us and the years passed, we’ve not lost touch with his awesome family, and it was nothing but FUN to photograph austin for his senior portraits.
he’s handsome, he’s super athletic (cross fit anyone?), and he’s willing to try anything – the trifecta for an amazing senior guy’s portrait session. during the shoot, austin sweet-talked his way into a lamborghini, a movie theatre, and the good graces of an alaskan eskimo owned by the proprietors of a high-end jewelry store. oh, and he had ladies moving aside to make room for him in the swanky VIP lounge of the waldorf astoria naples.
austin, thanks for being so. much. fun. there are great things in store for you!
some time ago i realized how much pure joy i find in photographing families when i know them and grow to love their children, their grandmas, their individual quirks and their passions. if their images don’t grab my heart, i haven’t done my job.
i still thank my good fortune that erin and matt chose me to capture their first professional family portrait session some time ago, and that they believed enough in the importance of their family’s legacy to invest themselves into it. their artwork graces their walls, and i know they find as much daily joy in it as they (and i) found in creating it.
having the additional privilege to photograph them as their family has grown is a blessing i’m spoiled to enjoy. watching them parent their four amazing and unique kiddos is a gift, and even more, watching them partner together for this journey is ridiculous-awesome.

they met when she was fourteen, but they had to wait at least a year to “date.” and they held on tight from then on, until this many years later, when their time has come to make it forever.
i can’t wait for their wedding in may. these two have a promised marriage that will move mountains.
the idea was to provide a little mystery. a hauntingly romantic story that left the viewer wondering who the groom was… where he was… and left hopelessly caught up in the story of two lovers, longing for one another.
